More Scribbling - Spring 2023

Artist Pearl Kinnear will lead this block of workshops on a Saturday morning, 10am-12noon on Saturday 25th March - Saturday 27th May 2023, for 10 weekly workshops.

In More Scribbling, you have the opportunity to explore various mediums and to develop your artistic skills throughout the sessions. The workshops are free and all materials are provided. Newcomers do not need any prior art experience, and regulars can choose their art weapons at will!

In this set of workshops, the class will explore the use of paint to build their drawing and compositional skills, learning how to work with light and colour working from Still Life.

The first half of the class will be used to learn the basic rules of paint, composition, texture and colour mixing.  As a group we will be working with acrylic paint, but in this process we will also discuss in comparison how to work with oils.  The second half of the class will give participants the opportunity to take elements of the first part of the class and use them to explore their own composition or idea for a painting and build it to a finished piece throughout the term. We aim to provide our class with the confidence and knowledge to continue on their journey developing a visual language and vocabulary that will enhance their future art ventures.

The workshops take place at the St Matthew’s Centre (200 Balmore Rd, Glasgow G22 6LJ)
