Regular art workshops
We run different types of art workshops regularly in North Glasgow. You can read about our workshops below, and then visit the sign up for workshops page to register. You can view all of our current events on our workshop calendar.
Still Scribbling
Artist Barry Neeson runs our Still Scribbling workshops on a Monday morning, 10am-12noon, at the St Matthew’s Centre. We run 4 “blocks” of Still Scribbling workshops a year, which last 10 sessions each.
These sessions are really relaxed, giving you the opportunity to make arts & crafts and meet other local people. You can work on whatever kind of art you would like to, and you’ll have a range of materials to choose from. You don’t have to have any previous experience with art. The workshops are free and all the materials are provided.
More Scribbling
Artist Pearl Kinnear runs More Scribbling workshops on a Saturday morning, 10am-12noon, at the St Matthew’s Centre. We run 4 “blocks” of More Scribbling workshops a year, which last 10 sessions each.
Just like Still Scribbling, these sessions are really friendly and relaxed. At More Scribbling, Pearl focuses on specific art mediums and styles. In these workshops, you will learn more about working with particular materials: for example, past workshops have focused on pastels, charcoal, and Conté crayons. Newcomers do not need any prior art experience, and regulars can choose their art weapons at will! The workshops are free and all materials are provided.
Young Scribblers
Artist Bex Smith and visiting artists run our Young Scribblers workshops for children, in partnership with Young People’s Futures. The workshops take place on Tuesdays after school at Possilpoint Community Centre.
Young Scribblers provides a safe and relaxed environment for children to create arts & crafts. The workshops are free and all materials are provided.
To take part in Young Scribblers, talk to Young People’s Futures about joining their youth club on Tuesday evenings.
Scribblers Academy
Once a year, we run a free series of workshops for secondary school age participants, delivered in partnership with Queens Cross Housing Association.
The workshops are led by Bex Smith at The Courtyard. Bex supports the teenagers to improve their skills and to develop their own style as artists. Participants are provided with their very own art kit to use during the workshops and to keep afterwards.
Scribblers Academy 2024 ran over the summer holidays. More information on the 2025 Academy will be released later in the year. To keep up to date on our activities, sign up for our newsletter.
